The Green Bay Packers shocked the NFL over the weekend when they upset the Dallas Cowboys in a big wild-card win on Sunday.
The Packers jumped out to a huge lead thanks to quarterback Jordan Love and managed to stay ahead throughout the game thanks to the play-calling of head coach Matt LaFleur, who is in his fifth year coaching the team.
While LaFleur is no stranger to postseason success, the manner in which he and Green Bay won earned high praise from former NFL general manager Mike Lombardi.
“What I’ve learned about LaFleur is when he knows a scheme, when he knows it and has played it before, he can gameplan pretty effectively,” Lombardi said on ESPN’s “Pat McAfee Show” on Tuesday. “And I think his play-calling has gone to a higher level.”

This is the first time the NFL has seen LaFleur’s Packers offense without Aaron Rodgers – and it looks pretty spectacular.
Love commanded the offense well and LaFleur set up the youthful skill position players to succeed against one of the best defenses in the league.
The results were one of the most efficient performances by a quarterback in a recent playoff game, but now LaFleur, Love, and the Packers will travel to face the top-seeded San Francisco 49ers in the divisional round.
This will be a huge test for LaFleur, who’s struggled in previous playoff matchups against Kyle Shanahan’s 49ers teams.
But now that he’s shown what his teams can do with Love under center, it’s a whole new ballgame.
