Jerry Jones has done an outstanding job at creating market value for the Dallas Cowboys.
When it comes to building a winning culture, however, he might rank in the bottom tier of sports owners.
Jones has used the Cowboys as his own social experiment multiple times to the detriment of the organization.
At least, that’s how former NFL star Chris Canty seems to feel.
Talking on ESPN Radio’s UNSPORTSMANLIKE, Canty claimed that this situation with CeeDee Lamb is just Jones looking to create drama to draw more attention to the organization and keep driving the value up.

He argues that he didn’t get the team to be as valuable by being conventional, adding that he knows just how much Lamb wants and how much he’ll end up paying him.
Of course, Lamb didn’t sign up to be a part of a reality show or a social experiment; he wants his money so he can get back on the field and do his job, but Jones is never going to change his ways.
Needless to say, perhaps the best way to drive value up would be to actually win some playoff games and a Super Bowl, which is something that’s not likely to happen for as long as he keeps taking the same approach.
Not all publicity is good publicity, and while Jones has made sure that everybody’s always talking about the Dallas Cowboys, all the talk has rarely been positive.
Once considered to be America’s Team, no one seems to think of them as contenders anymore.
