The Philadelphia Eagles continue to make moves.
Over the past couple of years, GM Howie Roseman has drawn praise for being arguably the best general manager in the game, and he showed it again.
He didn’t wait a second longer before signing star WR DeVonta Smith to a contract extension, getting him tied to the organization until 2028.
That’s why former NFL player Ross Tucker believes he’s the best at what he does.
Talking on his podcast, he pointed out that he still doesn’t understand why teams wait so long to get these deals done.
While it’s normal to expect some decline in productivity as the years go by and there are always factors that could be concerning, by the time most extensions hit, they’re usually a bargain because of the ever-growing salary cap.
Eagles are arguably the best contract & cap management team in the league.
Devonta Smith contract extension the latest example of why.

The Eagles have now secured their former No. 10 pick through his prime years, and it’s not like he hadn’t done more than enough to get this opportunity.
While Smith hasn’t been the same dominant force he was during his time at Alabama, he’s been quite efficient as Jalen Hurts’ WR2.
The Eagles have done an outstanding job of stacking talent, and they should continue to be a driving force in the NFC for years to come.
All teams should take a page out of Roseman’s book, and having him there will also guarantee that plenty of top-notch free agents will want to take their talents to the City of Brotherly Love when they have a chance to do so.
