After the 2022 NFL season came to an end, despite the New York Giants losing to the division-rival Philadelphia Eagles in the second round of the NFL playoffs, the future looked bright in the Big Apple, with head coach Brian Daboll seemingly having gotten this struggling franchise back on track in the post-Eli Manning era.
Unfortunately for the Giants, the 2023 NFL season turned out to be an epic disaster as everything seemed to fall apart, with several injuries, some problems on the coaching staff under Daboll, and not a lot of confidence in starting quarterback Daniel Jones.
Even though many believed Jones was undeserving of the contract extension he signed after the 2022 campaign, the Giants felt they had made the right move at QB, but that didn’t seem to be the case after last season.
Jones is on the hot seat in New York heading into the 2024 NFL season, and ESPN’s Myron Medcalf claims that the Giants are very much aware they have a problem under center moving forward.
“The Giants know they don’t have the right guy at QB and now they’re stuck,” Medcalf said, via ESPN Radio.

It became pretty clear during the 2024 NFL Draft process that the Giants were not sold on Jones being their long-term option at quarterback, as they were actively looking to trade up to get one of the top-tier quarterbacks available, like Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels or Drake Maye.
Ultimately, the Giants selected wide receiver Malik Nabers at No. 6 overall, and though the former LSU standout has superstar potential, the quarterback position will still need to be addressed at some point if Jones can’t cut it during the upcoming season.
