Even if he’s not the superstar some NBA scouts and fans thought he’d be, Kristaps Porzingis is still a unique and very good player.

Having him back on the court will be huge for the Boston Celtics, particularly against the Dallas Mavericks.

Porzingis’ combination of size and shooting is almost unmatched around the league, and he could be the X-factor in this series.

Recently, NBA analyst Alan Hahn called him a “matchup nightmare” for the Mavericks, adding that he might turn out to be the most important player in the NBA Finals (via Get Up).

Porzingis can put the ball on the floor and shoot from all three levels, and the Mavericks don’t have a player who could match up with him on the perimeter.

Of course, Dereck Lively II and Daniel Gafford could hold their own against him in the restricted area, even though they would still give up a couple of inches.

But things get a little trickier when he spots up beyond the arc, as he can pretty much shoot over anybody else in the league.

Truth be told, having Porzingis there seems like overkill for the most stacked team in the entire Association.

The Celtics already had one of the best rosters in the game before adding Porzingis and Jrue Holiday, so it wasn’t much of a surprise to see them be the odds-on favorites to win the whole thing and not even break a sweat to make it to the NBA Finals.

Now, they have to finish the job.
