All eyes are on the stacked NFL rookie quarterback class this preseason after six of the top 12 picks in the 2024 NFL Draft were used on new franchise QBs, and even though not all of them will start right away, each one has had some impressive moments already.
One respected analyst has been particularly impressed with one rookie who he believes already looks comfortable playing at the NFL level.
Greg Cosell appeared on “The Ross Tucker Podcast” and praised Atlanta Falcons No. 8 overall pick Michael Penix Jr.
“He was just playing the way you are supposed to play the position. … Penix looked like a comfortable player,” Cosell said of the rookie’s first preseason game.

Penix completed 9-of-16 passes for 104 yards in his preseason debut, a 20-13 loss to the Miami Dolphins, and didn’t have any turnovers or take any sacks.
It was a clean, consistent performance that already has fans changing their minds about using such a high pick on another quarterback after signing Kirk Cousins in the offseason.
It’s nice to see the Falcons giving Penix an extended run in the preseason as he is set to ride the bench all year unless Cousins gets injured again.
Few questioned the lefty’s ability to play right away because Penix is already 24 years old, played six years in college, and is fresh off a national championship game appearance with the University of Washington.
Helped by that experience, he already looks comfortable in the NFL and should have no problem stepping in whenever his number is called.
