The Seattle Seahawks had an unexpectedly successful 2022 season, going 9-8 and making the playoffs despite most picking them to finish outside of the postseason picture.
They had traded franchise fixture Russell Wilson last offseason and replaced him under center with Geno Smith, who had mostly been a career backup, but Smith had a marvelous season.
Some may not be too confident the Seahawks can repeat what they did in 2022 next season, but one analyst feels their secondary will be special.
Can the Seahawks’ young DBs be the catalyst for their whole defense?

Perhaps the most intriguing member of that secondary is cornerback Devon Witherspoon, whom the team took No. 5 in the 2023 NFL Draft and is projected to be a starter right away.
He was a consensus All-American last season for the University of Illinois for posting 17 passes defended, three interceptions and 2.5 tackles for loss.
Witherspoon will line up opposite Tariq Woolen, who made the Pro Bowl last season and put up 16 passes defended and a league-high six interceptions as a rookie in 2022.
At free safety, Quandre Diggs made his third straight Pro Bowl last season and notched seven passes broken up and four interceptions, and at strong safety, three-time Pro Bowler Jamal Adams is working his way back from a torn quad tendon that ended his 2022 campaign prematurely in Week 1.
Seattle’s defense last season was relatively weak, but perhaps the arrival of Witherspoon and the return of Adams will bring back some memories of the “Legion of Boom” defense that frustrated opponents so several years ago when they won the Super Bowl and came close to claiming another one.
