NBA fans couldn’t have asked for a better scenario: the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors will square off in the second round of the playoffs.
This will be yet another epic battle between LeBron James and Stephen Curry, but it seems like there’s way more at stake now than ever.
According to Jay Williams, this could be a generational series, as people could look back to it one day and make an argument that Stephen Curry is a better and more impactful player than LeBron James.
“Every time they link up, it’s a battle of the best player of our generation. That’s what’s on the line here.”

And while that sounds far-fetched, it wouldn’t be crazy to think.
For starters, Steph has had the upper hand in their playoff meetings more often than not.
Also, if Steph goes the distance and wins the whole thing, he’d get his fifth ring, one more than James, all while doing it in fewer years.
It would be tough for anyone to make a case against Curry not being a top-5 player of all time with a fifth NBA championship, especially given this year’s context.
This might as well be the last championship run for both of these superstars.
The Warriors dynasty could come to an end, and Draymond Green could leave at the end of the season.
James, on the other hand, will enter his 21st season in the league next season, and we all know Father Time is undefeated.
