The Philadelphia 76ers were seemingly ready to run it back with Joel Embiid and James Harden after their disappointing second-round exit in the 2023 NBA playoffs.
They couldn’t get the job done with Doc Rivers, who was fired after three seasons with the team.
Harden was expected to return to the Sixers in some way, but he ultimately picked up his player option only to ask for a trade.
Several teams are reportedly interested in Harden, including the Los Angeles Clippers and New York Knicks.
However, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, via Bleacher Report, the Sixers are demanding a big return for Harden.
Philly’s asking price for Harden is “extremely high” and the 76ers are prepared to wait for the most advantageous deal to accommodate Harden’s trade request, per @wojespn pic.twitter.com/DMNNfA7ZJh

He’s not as desired as Damian Lillard around the league, but there will still be interest.
Harden showed flashes of dominating games, even having some impressive performances during the playoffs.
Then again, he’s not the same player he was during his tenure with the Houston Rockets, but can still impact the game in different ways.
Harden played 51 games with the Sixers last season, posting 21.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 10.7 assists.
A return to the Houston Rockets was on the table before the Rockets decided to spend a lot of money on Fred VanVleet and Dillon Brooks.
The Los Angeles Clippers re-signed Russell Westbrook, and the New York Knicks acquired Donte DiVincenzo.
It’ll be interesting to see what happens with Harden and where he ends up.
