The Boston Celtics don’t get enough credit for what they’ve done this season.

The fact that they’re the most stacked team in the game and that they were always supposed to make it to the NBA Finals makes it seem less impressive, but that’s not right.

It’s one thing to be favored on paper, and an entirely different thing to actually get the job done and execute on the court.

With that in mind, NBA analyst Justin Termine wanted to give the listeners at SiriusXM NBA Radio some context about how special this Celtics team is.

“Celtics have put together one of the best seasons that we’ve seen in the history of the league”

He revealed that the 2023-24 Celtics are one of just eight teams that have reached the NBA Finals with 20 losses or less since the league adopted a four-round system in the playoffs.

The Celtics joined other legendary teams like the 1996 Chicago Bulls (11 losses), 2016 Golden State Warriors (14 losses), 1997 Bulls and 2017 Warriors (15 losses), 1986 Boston Celtics and 1987 Los Angeles Lakers (16 losses), and the 2013 Miami Heat and 1992 Bulls (20 losses).

This is remarkable, and while they boast plenty of talent and depth at every position, it’s not like they’re a superteam stacked with three superstars; they don’t even have the best player in the series or a top-five payer in the NBA.

Jrue Holiday, Derrick White, and Al Horford have stepped up big time to give Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum some much-needed help in big moments, and having Kristaps Porzingis potentially back to full strength will do wonders for them.

Brad Stevens deserves all the credit in the world for putting this team together.
