The Kansas City Chiefs are coming off their second Super Bowl win in the Patrick Mahomes era.

Even though the team traded one of the best wide receivers in the game with Tyreek Hill being dealt to the Miami Dolphins, the Chiefs didn’t miss a beat.

It appears they’ll have to do something similar this year, with Juju Smith-Schuster leaving for the New England Patriots and Mecole Hardman going to the New York Jets.

It seems as though adding weapons downfield for Mahomes has become a priority once again for the defending Super Bowl champions, according to James Palmer of NFL Network.

The #chiefs are expected add to their WR room before the start of the season. But they’re also not going to overspend or give up a ton to make it happen. Will they continue to monitor the top players that could be available to them? Of course. My report on @nflnetwork pic.twitter.com/uo0lT85Ilm

At this point in NFL free agency, the options are limited at many different positions, which could make it challenging to replace Smith-Schuster and Hardman.

One big-name option for the Chiefs is Odell Beckham Jr., who remains a free agent after going unsigned to finish last season.

The Dallas Cowboys appeared to be a major suitor along with the Buffalo Bills, but Dallas seems to have moved on with the acquisition of Brandin Cooks, and it’s uncertain what Buffalo’s plans are at the position.

Another intriguing option for Kansas City is DeAndre Hopkins.

Hopkins’ days with the Arizona Cardinals appear to be numbered, with the team ready to trade the veteran wide receiver.

The 30-year-old wideout would be an ideal addition for Kansas City, as he and superstar tight end Travis Kelce would be a nightmarish one-two punch for Mahomes next season.

Only time will tell if the Chiefs can upgrade the position or find suitable replacements for the players they lost in free agency.
