The Golden State Warriors managed to pick up a much-needed win over the Chicago Bulls, but the team still remains outside the playoff picture.
The Warriors currently own an 18-20 record, good for 12th in the Western Conference.
It’s quite a disappointing 2023-24 NBA season for Golden State as the team and their fans couldn’t have predicted they would fall so quickly.
Draymond Green’s lengthy suspension plays a large part in the Warriors’ struggles, though their other veteran players have also regressed.
The player suffering the worst drop-off is Andrew Wiggins who has looked like a shell of the player that helped Golden State capture a title in 2022.
Wiggins’ play has been concerning and Bob Fitzgerald couldn’t help but express his true feelings on television via NBC.
“I don’t recognize this young man, right now,” Fitzgerald said.
“I don’t recognize this young man, right now.”

Fitzgerald notes that Wiggins’ season scoring average is down to 11.7 points per game, while also noting that his defense hasn’t been anywhere close to the lockdown performances he’s had in the past.
The former No. 1 overall pick’s struggles on both ends of the floor have hampered the Warriors and he could be a trade candidate at the deadline.
The team would likely need to attach sweeteners to him in order to land a player of value.
For now, the Warriors’ best course of action might be to hold out hope that Wiggins regains his form as he’s a crucial part of the rotation.
