Since before last year’s NFL Draft, we have been hearing about how Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. was arguably the best wide receiver prospect we have ever seen and that he was a lock to not only be the first receiver off the board in the 2024 draft but perhaps even a threat to go No. 1 overall.
With so much time to evaluate these prospects and Harrison skipping the NFL Combine and his Pro Day, the door has been left open and one prospect is crashing his party.
Analyst John Middlekauff said regarding LSU WR Malik Nabers’ Pro Day, “a lot of teams, from what I’ve heard, might have Nabers above Marvin Harrison Jr.”
“Malik Nabers put on a SHOW… and a lot of teams, from what I’ve heard, might have Nabers above Marvin Harrison Jr.”

Nabers popped off at his Pro Day and ran an unofficial 4.35 40-yard dash.
Both receivers have been projected to be among the first players off the board after the top 3-4 quarterbacks get taken, and both could now go in the top 5 unless J.J. McCarthy’s skyrocketing draft stock isn’t a smokescreen.
Nabers put up gaudy numbers in LSU last season, going for 89 catches for 1,569 yards and 14 touchdowns.
The Cardinals have the No. 4 pick, the Chargers are fifth, and the Giants are sixth, all of whom are prime candidates to select a receiver unless another team opts to trade up for a quarterback.
Nabers is seen as having a wider range of outcomes and a higher ceiling, while Harrison is the safer pick, although still with an incredibly high ceiling of his own.
Could this be another smokescreen?
