On Monday, the Philadelphia Eagles made star quarterback Jalen Hurts a very wealthy man, as the team signed him to a lucrative contract extension following an incredible 2022 campaign that resulted in a trip to the Super Bowl.

Despite the Eagles falling short to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl, the Eagles felt Hurts was more than deserving of this extension, and few could argue that he wasn’t considering how he’s helped turn things around for the franchise.

With Hurts now among the highest-paid players at his position moving forward with $179 million guaranteed, the attention turns to the Lamar Jackson situation with the Baltimore Ravens, which may have become more complex due to this new deal in Philadelphia.

According to David Helman of Fox Sports, Jackson’s price tag may have increased following the news of Hurts getting paid.

It was reported in March that Jackson turned down a deal from the Ravens, a contract with $200 million guaranteed.

The primary issue for Jackson has been that he wants his new contract with Baltimore or another team willing to pay him fully guaranteed money, which NFL teams have been reluctant to do for a very long time.

Guarantees on contracts in the league have been increasing, with Deshaun Watson of the Cleveland Browns setting the bar high by getting a fully guaranteed deal of $230 million before last season.

Hurts only got $179 guaranteed from the Eagles, and the Ravens came $30 million short with the offer to Jackson.

It’ll be interesting to see how things pan out for Jackson and if he ultimately gets the fully guaranteed contract he desires.
