The New Orleans Pelicans and Zion Williamson have been a usual subject of discussion around NBA circles for years now.

There’s no denying that Zion is a unique talent and a dominant force of nature when he’s on the court, but he’s played a grand total of 114 games in his first four seasons in the league.

The Pelicans had no choice but to sign him to a huge contract extension anyway, as his potential made him one of the most promising players in league history.

However, after watching him struggle to stay in shape and constantly miss games, NBA analyst Alan Hahn believes it’s time the team just moved on from him already.

“It is time for [the Pelicans] to move on from Zion Williamson.”

Hahn cites that the weight clause in his contract all but proves that the Pelicans don’t trust his work ethic or him to stay in shape.

He’s played in less than 50% of his team’s games since he entered the league, missing some pivotal contests in the playoffs as well.

There’s no use in having a potential GOAT on the bench if he’s never going to suit up, especially if you’re paying him tens of millions of dollars.

There have been multiple reports about Zion’s work ethic, and the fact that he was throwing windmill dunks before a must-win game and then refused to suit up may not have sat well with some of his teammates.

It’s a big blow for the Pelicans’ project, but they’re just one piece away from being a perennial playoff contender, and Williamson might not be that piece.
