After failing to live up to expectations during the NBA playoffs, with the star-studded Phoenix Suns falling to the Minnesota Timberwolves in four games in the first round, the team decided to part ways with veteran head coach Frank Vogel after only one season with the franchise.
The move to fire Vogel was unexpected as many believed he might get another year to right the ship, considering how this season was a bit of a disaster due to constant injury issues and three superstars trying to figure out how to play with one another.
Unfortunately for Vogel, new owner Mat Ishbia has proven to be pretty impatient during his first few seasons at the helm and wants results as quickly as possible, which obviously doesn’t bode well for a head coach trying to put all the pieces together with what was thought to be a championship-caliber team.
Once the team announced that Vogel was fired by the team, the reaction by fans and the media was brutal, as many bashed the Suns brass for making such a rash decision after only one season.
Lance Medow of Mad Dog Sports Radio reacted the way most did and believes this move shows the state of the league and professional sports.
“It’s a sad commentary about the NBA and professional sports,” Medow said.

It makes @LanceMedow upset to see good coaches like Frank Vogel let go so early into their tenures.

Shortly after parting ways with Vogel, the Suns wasted no time in their coaching search, as they have reportedly agreed to bring in one-time NBA champion head coach Mike Budenholzer on a five-year deal.
The Milwaukee Bucks fired Budenholzer in May of last year after the team was knocked out of the playoffs by the Miami Heat in a similar fashion to how the Suns were beaten by the Timberwolves this year.
