The Philadelphia 76ers just got Joel Embiid another star sidekick.
Now, he owes it to them and the organization to be in the best shape possible.
With that in mind, NBA analyst Alan Hahn believes there’s just no way he should play in the Olympics.
Talking on ESPN Radio’s UNSPORTSMANLIKE, Hahn argued that Embiid should skip the summer festivities altogether, as he always runs out of gas in the second round.

He questioned his conditioning and shape, as his knee is always bothering him late in the season and he’s gassed and exhausted when it matters the most.
So, with the Sixers having a two or three-year window to win an NBA championship, Embiid owes it to them to be ready for the start of the season.
Moreover, he needs to be able to withstand the burden of a full 82-game season and the playoffs.
That makes perfect sense, and it’s not like Team USA needs him to bring home the gold.
Also, it’s not like he won’t have another opportunity to suit up and play in the Olympics.
As great a player as he is, Embiid has left plenty to be desired in terms of health and conditioning.
The Sixers have given him more than enough to work with, so it’s now up to him to take a deep look in the mirror and admit that he’s got to put his team first.
