While some teams play the draft game with aggression, others play it like a game of chess.
They play the long game by trading back.
The New England Patriots could be in that role by the time the draft starts this week.
According to insider Tony Pauline, New England could trade down if LSU’s Jayden Daniels is not available for them at pick No. 3 overall.
Per @TonyPauline, one “well-placed” source said that the #Patriots “would move down”, especially if Jayden Daniels is not available as they are comfortable with Michael Penix Jr. later in round 1

The Patriots are among a handful of teams in search of their next franchise quarterback.
The Bears, Broncos, Vikings, Raiders, and Commanders are also looking for a signal-caller to guide them into the future.
New England is especially unique because they are entering a new age without arguably the greatest coach of all time in Bill Belichick.
Newly-appointed head coach Jerod Mayo is ready to move forward and guide this ship into the future.
The Mac Jones experiment didn’t work out, which is why they traded him to the Jaguars earlier this offseason.
If the Heisman Trophy winner Daniels is not available, the Patriots, who reportedly really like Washington’s Michael Penix Jr., could select the lefty after a possible trade down.
Patriots fans should be excited about a fresh slate after a truly dominant 20-year run that the NFL will likely never see again.
They have plenty of needs to address, including at wide receiver and offensive line.
They’ll be a true wildcard to watch as this week’s events unfold because pundits simply have no idea what this team may do.
Perhaps Washington decides to pass on Daniels, which would then open the door for the Pats.
Regardless, everyone should keep their eye on this new-era Patriots regime.
