Analyst Says Refs Missed Huge Penalty In Bills, Giants Game

On Sunday night, the Buffalo Bills were able to narrowly escape their Week 6 matchup against the New York Giants, thanks in part to a controversial no-call on the final play of the game.

Lined up on Buffalo’s one-yard line, the Giants had an opportunity to score a walk-off game-winning touchdown and leave the field with an upset victory over the Bills.

Unfortunately, New York quarterback Tyrod Taylor was unable to complete a pass to tight end Darren Waller in the end zone, and Buffalo got the win.

Following the play, the replay on the TV broadcast showed Waller had his jersey grabbed by Bills defender Taron Johnson while attempting to make the catch, and that action should have resulted in a pass interference penalty on Buffalo.

After the game, NBC Sports’ Cris Collinsworth gave his thoughts on the final play of the night (via King of Phinland).

Rules analyst Terry McAulay agrees with Collinsworth that this should have been DPI.

It was a tough way for the game to end for the Giants, who are now left with a 1-5 record after their loss to the Bills on Sunday night.

A win in Buffalo could have potentially provided a spark for New York and helped them get back into contending for a playoff spot in the NFC this season.

Instead, the Giants have only been able to win one game this year, and their chances of getting back to the postseason this year are very low.

It might be time for New York fans to start looking ahead to the 2024 offseason and what changes the team needs to make.
