The Dallas Cowboys finished the 2022 season with a record of 12-5 before falling to the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional round of the playoffs.
After their playoff exit, many fans and analysts picked apart their roster, wondering what went wrong.
In a recent appearance on The Carton Show, Greg Jennings highlighted one move that potentially impacted the Cowboys’ championship aspirations.
“Trading Amari Cooper cost the Cowboys a Super Bowl,” he said.

The Cowboys traded Cooper to the Cleveland Browns before the 2022 season, acquiring a fifth-round pick in the process, along with a pick-swap.
After this trade, they left their receiving corps to CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup as the two best options alongside Dalton Schultz, their premier tight end.
As Jennings and many others have indicated, not having a solid number-two receiver could have been the Cowboys’ downfall.
How do they move forward from here?
The organization did trade for a wide receiver during the offseason, acquiring Brandin Cooks from the Houston Texans.
Cooks is a nine-year NFL veteran, and his locker-room presence could assist his younger teammates as they grow and develop in the league.
The NFL Draft is also rapidly approaching, and the Cowboys could use at least one pick on a receiver if the right player presents himself.
Currently, the Cowboys’ first two picks are 26th and 58th, barring a trade.
While the incoming class of receivers isn’t as highly-regarded as the past several drafts have been, the Cowboys could still find an impactful player or two at this position.
