The arms race in the Eastern Conference continues as the Boston Celtics were able to swing a trade for Jrue Holiday in the wake of Damian Lillard’s trade to the Milwaukee Bucks.

Holiday was actually sent to the Portland Trail Blazers in the Lillard deal, but the team had no intention of keeping him and were able to flip him for a haul of picks and players.

The Blazers were able to extract Robert Williams III, Malcolm Brogdon, and draft compensation from the Celtics to help boost their rebuild while Boston gets their Marcus Smart replacement in the backcourt.

Holiday now finds himself in the unique position to potentially see his former team in the playoffs and most fans are already pitting Milwaukee and Boston against each other to represent the Eastern Conference in the Finals.

The veteran guard is a tenacious defender who has been able to make some incredible plays in high-pressure moments, and shores up the perimeter for the Celtics.

However, analysts like Amin Elhassan have their concerns about Boston’s lack of front court depth and playmaking via SiriusXM NBA Radio.

The Celtics did seemingly give up a lot for Holiday who is entering the final year of his deal and will demand a rich extension or new contract.

The frontcourt issue is also a valid concern as Kristaps Porzingis and Al Horford aren’t the same caliber of rim protector that Williams is.

Boston also doesn’t have a traditional table setter to organize the offense, so it’ll be interesting to see how they address that.
