Kevin Durant knew that he was setting the bar high when he moved to the Phoenix Suns and that people would expect great things from him and the team as soon as possible.

So far, Phoenix hasn’t delivered and there are rumblings of Durant being frustrated with the state of the Suns.

Speaking on his podcast, Bill Simmons said that Durant has to find a way to make things work out with the Suns.

“If this Phoenix thing doesn’t work out, his legacy changes,” Simmons stated.

Simmons said that Durant cares about his standing in the league and its history more than he lets on.

He pays attention to how he stacks up against LeBron James and some of the other best players in the league, Simmons claims.

Durant wants to make things work in Phoenix and, according to Simmons, he really has to in order to secure his legacy.

If Durant were to leave the team after a couple of rocky seasons, it would tarnish the overall view of him.

Simmons also added that Durant is seemingly unhappy with the pressure on his shoulders because of the coaching staff and doesn’t like how much he is needed on the court.

He allegedly fears that playing as much as he has at his age could lead to another injury.

All of this adds up to a bad situation in Phoenix, but it’s not one that Durant can leave unless he is okay with damaging his place in NBA history.

There is still a chance for the Suns to turn things around and plenty of time left in the season.

Can the team rebound and work things out?

And what will Durant do if they can’t?
