Analyst Sends Ultimatum To The Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys made an explosive impression on Sunday night by starting their season with a 40-0 destruction of the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium.

So much went right for them, especially on defense, which is where many feel they have tremendous potential this year.

Former NFL player and current “Speak” analyst Emmanuel Acho got the sense from that blowout that this “has to be the Cowboys’ year.”

Although Dallas scored 40 points, they won this game with defense.

They harassed Giants quarterback Daniel Jones into two interceptions and an embarrassing passer rating of 32.4, and they held star running back Saquon Barkley to just 51 rushing yards.

The Cowboys already boasted All-Pro First-Team pass rusher Micah Parsons and star cornerback Trevon Diggs, but they now have Stephon Gilmore lining up on the opposite side of the field in their secondary.

Many feel they have the potential to be, if not the best defensive team in the NFL, one of the top three to five defenses overall.

On offense, Brandin Cooks will give star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb some support, while emerging running back Tony Pollard is coming off a Pro Bowl campaign in 2022.

Ultimately, how far Dallas goes will fall on the performance of quarterback Dak Prescott.

He has a history of not performing well in the playoffs, and he is coming off a Divisional round loss to the San Francisco 49ers in which he threw two interceptions.

Those two teams could possibly meet in this year’s NFC Championship Game, and if Prescott doesn’t come through, he could start to hear the footsteps of recently acquired 23-year-old QB Trey Lance.
