The New York Jets have managed to keep the ship afloat without their best player.
Aaron Rodgers was on the field for just four plays before suffering a potentially season-ending Achilles injury.
They’re 4-4, and with the playoffs still in sight.
Also, Rodgers has made it loud and clear that he fully intends to get back on the field at some point later in the season.
That’s why NFL analyst Matt Miller shared his concerns about Rodgers’ potential return, stating that as cool as it would be to see someone coming back from an Achilles injury in the same season, there’s no way that a 40-year-old quarterback fresh off Achilles surgery would survive behind the Jets’ shaky offensive line.
It’s really fun to think about Aaron Rodgers defying science and returning this season…
But do we really think a 40 year old QB on a freshly repaired Achilles is gonna survive behind that offensive line?
Come on.

Rodgers coming back from that injury this season would defy the odds, not to mention be a massive breakthrough for sports science and medicine.
Still, that might not be in the team’s best interests.
If they made the playoffs, then that means that they’re winning with Zach Wilson.
If they’re winning with Zach Wilson, then it wouldn’t make a lot of sense to make a change at the most crucial position.
On top of that, Rodgers would most likely be for a playoff game in the blistering cold, fresh off a major injury, and after barely playing since the end of the 2022 season.
It’s nice to know that he’s trying, and that’s definitely inspiring for his teammates, but maybe it would be best to put that narrative to rest once and for all.
