Analyst Shuts Down Common Narrative About Brock Purdy

The San Francisco 49ers have a winning quarterback.

They may not have the best or most impressive quarterback in the game, but he’s a winner.

That’s why NFL analyst Craig Carton is sick and tired of the ‘system quarterback’ narrative.

In the latest edition of The Carton Show, he talked about how some people get too caught up in the draft position or the school a player went to.

He explained that if Purdy had been a first-round pick out of Ohio State, people would be raving about him and talking about how much he’s been able to live up to the hype.

Carton also stated that all quarterbacks are a byproduct of the talent around them to some degree, which is why people should finally stop calling him out and doubting him just because he’s surrounded by stars.

He also went as far as to compare him with Troy Aikman, who wasn’t an impressive athlete by any means and didn’t have the strongest arm, but he was a proven winner, a leader, and a guy who was rarely going to miss an open teammate.

At the end of the day, Purdy has been the best quarterback the Niners have had in the Kyle Shanahan era, at least when it comes to executing his system.

So, why on Earth would they ask for more?

They’ve already spent a lot of money everywhere else, so why not make the most of the overperforming late-round pick making a handful of money while they can?
