Haason Reddick is one of the premier defensive forces in the NFL, and of that, there is no doubt.
As he examined the league landscape for players of his caliber, he noted that his current compensation pales in comparison to that of other players who many believe to be his equals.
The New York Jets swapped a conditional third-round draft choice in 2026 this offseason for Reddick’s services, but the promise he brought to the franchise is on hold as he waits for a new deal.
League insider Ross Tucker expressed his solidarity with Reddick’s decision not to suit up this fall for $14 million.
He added, “Nick Bosa makes $32 million a year. Why should Haason Reddick be playing the last year of his deal for less than half of what he’s worth?”
“Hasson Reddick is not playing for $14 million this year. I don’t blame him, he shouldn’t do it. Nick Bosa makes $32 million a year. Why should Haason Reddick be playing the last year of his deal for less than half of what he’s worth?”

It may be some time before Reddick dons the Jets’ green uniforms as he skipped the team’s entire offseason program to express his unhappiness.
And while some may believe he should play out the contract he signed, it is clear that Reddick has outproduced his current deal.
After all, he registered double-digit sacks in each of the last four seasons from his linebacker position, and the Jets must have known that the 29-year-old sought a new contract when they made the trade with the Eagles.
The Jets have high hopes for 2024 with quarterback Aaron Rodgers returning from last season’s devastating injury.
It cannot be encouraging to fans in New York to see one of their most important defensive weapons away from the team seeking a new deal.
