After moving on from four-time Pro Bowl quarterback Kirk Cousins, the Minnesota Vikings found their guy in Michigan’s J.J. McCarthy.

The national champion was drafted by Minnesota at No. 10 overall in this year’s draft and will be the quarterback of the future in the Twin Cities.

According to ESPN’s Matt Bowen, he believes that McCarthy to the Vikings was a perfect fit.

“As a passer, McCarthy can target all three levels of the field…But it’s the core passing/play-action concepts in O’Connell’s offense that really make this fit work,” Bowen recently wrote.

Per @MattBowen41, #Vikings QB J.J. McCarthy was one of his select few listed as a best rookie team fit / perfect landing spot

Look for the Vikings to be an underrated team.

It remains to be seen who the starting quarterback will be for them this year.

It could be the veteran in Sam Darnold, who signed a one-year deal this offseason.

Or, it could immediately be the quarterback of the future in McCarthy.

Darnold is entering his seventh NFL season with his fourth different team.

He has seen a lot and has over 12,000 career passing yards.

Minnesota could go with him for the first half of the year to see if they can contend in the NFC.

Or, they could just start off with the future in McCarthy, who threw 44 touchdowns and just 9 interceptions over his final two years for Jim Harbaugh at Michigan.

Regardless, whoever is at quarterback will have an elite cast of skill players.

Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, T.J. Hockenson, and free agent signee Aaron Jones could make magic happen for the Vikings this year.

Hopefully for them, the starting quarterback will too.
