This year’s group of quarterback prospects in the NFL Draft pool are regarded as some of the best to be available in a long time.
Some even believe there could potentially be a total of six quarterbacks to come off of the board during the opening round of this year’s draft when the first night kicks off at the end of April.
Former University of Washington signal-caller Michael Penix Jr. is among those who some believe could be drafted in the first round this year.
However, FS1’s Craig Carton recently shared on “The Carton Show” that a team would be making a huge mistake if they were to use a first-round pick on Penix in April.
“The General Manager that drafts Penix in the first round will be fired within 2 years of that selection.”

Carton shared how he believes if a team selects Penix in the first round of this year’s NFL Draft, the general manager of that team will be fired within two years of making that pick.
His opinions on the former Washington quarterback seem to stem from the fact that Penix will be 24 years old by the time the 2024 regular season begins.
Carton shared how he wasn’t very impressed with what Penix was able to do during his career at Washington since he was much older than a lot of the players he was going up against.
However, one of Carton’s co-hosts on the show, former NFL wide receiver Victor Cruz, argued that Penix has still shown he can make almost every throw out on the field despite his “old” age.
Will teams around the league agree with Carton and opt not to use a first-round pick on the former Washington quarterback in a few weeks?
