For years, teams have taken the same approach to the NFL Draft.

And more often than not, a player taken in the latter rounds proves everybody wrong and shows that he should’ve been drafted way earlier.

That’s regardless of the position, and while one could argue that some positions are more important than others on the field, a star is a star; it doesn’t matter where he’s lined up.

That’s why NFL analyst Dane Brugler urged teams to stop thinking about positional value and think of it as impact value instead.

Talking on The Ross Tucker Podcast, he explained that impact value might vary from team to team depending on their needs, but some players are way more than just the position they play.

“I’m not using that term ‘positional value’ anymore I am using ‘impact value’…people see the TE next to his name and get a little freaked out…”@dpbrugler doesn’t think teams should overthink it when it comes to Georgia star TE Brock Bowers: pic.twitter.com/nX2ZtZQesn

Considering that, he believes teams should stop overthinking things when it comes to Georgia TE Brock Bowers, as he’s not a prototypical tight end.

Brugler explained that teams won’t draft Bowers to block and that’s it.

He’s going to be an integral and featured part of the offense, and they can line him up in-line, in the slot, out wide, or even in the backfield.

Even though the track record isn’t great for first-round tight ends, Bowers looks like a guy who’s ready to make a big impact right away.

Also, we’re seeing guys like Travis Kelce or Rob Gronkowski become huge parts of the passing game, so with the game shifting that way, why not take a risk on a generational talent just because he’s a tight end?
