Andre Iguodala Makes A Bold Claim About Rasheed Wallace

In the 2000s, Rasheed Wallace was considered one of the more skilled power forwards in the NBA.

In 16 seasons, he averaged 14.4 points and 6.7 rebounds a game, and he won a world championship ring with the Detroit Pistons in 2004.

However, some feel he could’ve been a much more productive player if he wanted to.

Andre Iguodala said on the “Dan Le Batard Show” that if Wallace played today, he would not only be a top-five player but that he would be better than Giannis Antetokounmpo, a two-time MVP, per NBACentral.

Andre Iguodala in 2022:

“If Rasheed Wallace played in our league today, he’d be a top-5 player. He’d be better than Giannis & I love Giannis.”

Wallace made two All-Star teams in the 1999-00 and 2000-01 seasons, yet he never managed to average 20 points a game for an entire season.

But he was a very adept scorer who could get buckets in the low post and by hitting jumpers from the mid-range area out to 3-point range.

In that sense, he was one of the first stretch 4s in the NBA during an era when power forwards still played closer to the basket and looked to overpower opponents in the paint.

Wallace was also known as a hothead, as he picked up many technical fouls throughout his career and seemingly never met a referee he liked.

Iguodala’s assessment of how he would’ve done in today’s NBA is interesting, as he lacked Antetokounmpo’s athleticism and open court skills, not to mention the Greek Freak’s immense defensive ability.

But Wallace can still hold his head high, mainly because he won that championship ring in 2004, something that plenty of former stars cannot say.
