Andrew Wiggins of the Golden State Warriors was set to travel to China this week but abruptly canceled those plans.
According to NBC Sports, Wiggins has pulled out of the trip overseas due to a family emergency.
Speaking on the Chinese social media app, Weibo, Wiggins’ manager Richard Clarke said his client won’t be in China but hopes to come back soon.
“These days have been really rough and tough on Andrew and the family. This trip really meant a lot to us,” Clarke said.

Clarke didn’t get into the specifics of the family emergency that has postponed the trip but did ensure fans that Wiggins still looks forward to returning to China.
Clarke said:
“His family has been excited for the past couple of months to go out there to see his fans to see the culture, to see his team, to eat the food. Just to have a great experience out there with you guys once again, Unexpected things happen, unforeseen circumstances that are out of our control that will postpone this trip for now.”
Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time that Wiggins’ NBA career has been impacted by family issues.
He missed a good deal of time in 2022-23 because of situations with his family but the team has always had his back and given him unconditional support.
That will surely be the case this time, no matter what is happening.
Wiggins averaged 13.2 points and 4.5 rebounds during the 2023-24 season and fans are hoping he can improve those numbers a bit in 2024-25.
