The Kansas City Chiefs brought back a familiar face.
Their pursuit of a third consecutive Super Bowl has left them to leave no stone unturned when it comes to giving Patrick Mahomes more weapons.
That’s why, even though he’s failed to establish himself since leaving the Pittsburgh Steelers, they gave JuJu Smith-Schuster another opportunity to win a ring.
With that in mind, HC Andy Reid confirmed that the recently-cut wide receiver could be available for their season opener vs. the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday (via Kansas City):
Smith-Schuster didn’t make a huge impact for the Chiefs in the regular season, but he did make some big plays for them when it mattered the most.
He will provide some depth behind Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown, Xavier Worthy, and Rashee Rice.
And while he may not see the field often once Brown is back to full strength, it never hurts to have as many proven pass-catchers as possible.
The Chiefs are looking to become the first team in Super Bowl history to take the Vince Lombardi trophy home three years in a row.
