The Los Angeles Angels have been without a key piece in third baseman and slugger Anthony Rendon, who has been on the injured list this year more times than he has hit a home run.
Injuries have been holding Rendon back for a few years, and the move the Angels made to sign him in 2020 has yet to pay off.
This has led some fans and media members to criticize Rendon and act as if he isn’t invested in baseball.
However, Angels manager Phil Nevin made sure to put those rumors to bed, defending his star third baseman in a statement.
Jeff Fletcher posted the statement on Twitter.

Nevin told reporters that Rendon is fully invested in the team and that his attitude has not changed.
He made sure to note that Rendon is feeling frustrated by the fact that he has been unable to stay healthy and remain on the field.
Nevin also noted that Rendon is looking forward to a potential return.
The Halos manager said that he is looking forward to that as well and hopes to have Rendon back on the field as soon as possible.
Rendon has only homered twice this year and has been on the injured list three times.
He joined the Angels in 2020 after winning a World Series with the Washington Nationals in the season prior.
Since the 2019 season, Rendon has not been himself and has seemingly been unable to stay off the injured list.
There is currently no timetable for a return.
