Bronny James has officially made it to the NBA.

He never was a highly-touted prospect, and perhaps he wouldn’t even gotten that many offers from college if he wasn’t LeBron James’ son.

His game in the NBA Summer League has left something to be desired, particularly on offense, and he’s going to have to put in a lot of work to crack the team’s rotation.

Nonetheless, this shouldn’t be anything new for the Lakers.

As pointed out by unnamed executives, this team had to be fully aware of his character and situation, as chances are that they’ve seen him work out and have been around him throughout his career (Via NBA Central).

An anonymous executive believes the Lakers made the correct decision to draft Bronny James because they are familiar with his true character

The executives stated that the Lakers clearly saw good things in him, adding that other teams did as well but they were seemingly scared of taking him.

Well, it’s not like the Lakers had much of a choice, either.

Rich Paul and LeBron James reportedly used all their leverage to make sure that no other team got Bronny, even though there wasn’t that much interest in him, to begin with.

Also, with James still not signed to a contract, the Lakers couldn’t afford losing him.

James signed his contract extension shortly after, and they had to make sure that he was going to make that decision, which is why they couldn’t take a chance and just pass on his firstborn.

Bronny has to prove himself in this league, and hopefully, the Lakers’ development staff will bring out the best in him.
