The Los Angeles Lakers have been a roller coaster ride ever since the storied franchise lost to Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets for a second straight season a few months ago.
There has been nonstop speculation about the team’s moves during the NBA offseason while the franchise has also made some questionable decisions, like hiring first-time head coach JJ Redick and drafting LeBron James’ son Bronny James out of the University of Southern California.
Along with all the questionable decisions the front office has made this summer, the team has been rumored to be seeking a trade to bring in another impact player to play alongside superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
Unfortunately, the Lakers haven’t been able to get anything done despite being linked to every player rumored to be available on the trade market.
Even if the team can acquire someone like Jerami Grant of the Portland Trail Blazers, that won’t move the needle much for this team, says an anonymous NBA executive, according to Sean Deveney of Heavy via NBA Central.
“If they get Grant, I am not sure they are that much better as a team…he is not a very good defender. I am not sure he is that much better than Rui,” an anonymous NBA executive said.
An anonymous NBA executive doesn’t believe Jerami Grant would make the Lakers better.

Although Grant is a talented scorer and an impact player of sorts, the anonymous executive might be right on the money in their assessment, as he might not move the needle enough to make this team a legitimate title contender in the Western Conference.
However, the Lakers brass have pulled off miracles in the past to become contenders, so there’s no telling what may be in store for the Lakers moving forward.
