The Denver Nuggets could’ve been forced to play Game 3 without their second-best player.

Jamal Murray faced a potential suspension for his antics and questionable behavior in Game 2, yet it ended in a fine.

While sitting on the bench, the Canadian star threw a heating pad and a towel onto the court, and Karl-Anthony Towns was just inches away from stepping on it.

The league decided not to suspend him and fined him $100,000 instead.

That’s why an unnamed executive called out NBA Commissioner Adam Silver (via NBA Central).

“We all know what’s going on here. And it’s a bad look. This was about protecting the TV audience for the next game — or games,” the anonymous executive said.

He claimed that Silver chose TV ratings over player and referee safety.

Murray admitted to his wrongdoing, although he stated that he was frustrated and didn’t mean to hurt anybody.

The league reportedly considered the fact that Murray had never been involved in a similar incident.

Of course, suspending him would’ve pretty much sealed the reigning NBA champions’ fate.

Then again, that shouldn’t give any player the green light to do anything like that.

He could’ve gotten someone, even one of his own teammates, seriously hurt.

And while $100,000 is obviously a lot of money, it’s small when you’re making north of $30 million per season.
