The Los Angeles Lakers surprised a lot of people when they decided to sit out of the NBA trade deadline and instead stick with the team they have now.
Any hope that fans had for the team landing Dejounte Murray, Bruce Brown, or others evaporated when Thursday’s deadline arrived and the Lakers didn’t look any different.
Anthony Davis was asked about the lack of changes on Thursday and he got honest about where things stand.
“This is our team. This is our team that we’re gonna have. Once we get guys healthy hopefully we can get back into a groove,” Davis said, according to Lakers Nation.

Fans were hoping that GM Rob Pelinka was going to make some radical changes, just like he did at last year’s trade deadline.
The additions the team made last season led to them surging in the second half of the season and eventually reaching the Western Conference Finals.
However, right now the team is ninth in the West with a 27-26 record, far from what some people had expected for 2023-24.
Davis said that he hopes his team can “get back into a groove” when they are fully healthy, but they have actually gotten into a groove without everyone healthy at times.
Just earlier this week, they enjoyed a three-game winning streak, featuring victories over the Boston Celtics and New York Knicks.
Additionally, there have been some stellar performances from players like Austin Reaves and D’Angelo Russell.
This suggests that the team can achieve greatness even without an altered roster.
But the league is a lot tougher than it was last year and health problems truly have plagued the Lakers all season long.
The greatness is there but can Davis and his team figure out how to remain healthy and capitalize on it?
