The Los Angeles Lakers played their first NBA preseason game after a long offseason.

They made several moves to improve the roster, one of which was adding former Dallas Mavericks center Christian Wood to the team.

Lakers superstar Anthony Davis shared his views about playing with Wood via Spectrum SportsNet on Twitter.

“The ability to just get the ball and score at three different levels, it’s gonna be big for us,” Davis said.

Wood joined the Lakers after failing to impress the Dallas Mavericks during the 2022-23 NBA season.

He averaged 16.6 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game for the Mavs.

As for his preseason debut with the Lakers, Wood had 5 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 assist in the 108-125 defeat against the Warriors.

Considering Wood is still 28 years old, he has the potential to become a crucial player for the Lakers.

Moreover, he will most likely learn a lot from veteran superstars such as LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

In addition, Wood may simply be nervous as it was his first game with his new team.

Thankfully, there are plenty of games left in the preseason for Wood to get comfortable with his new teammates.

What’s a realistic ceiling for Wood during the 2023-24 NBA season?

With the NBA season right around the corner, we will find out.
