Anthony Davis Sends Clear Message After Win Over Thunder

The Los Angeles Lakers have been fairly inconsistent under Darvin Ham’s tutelage.

You never know what version of them you’re going to get night in and night out, which is why they’ve never been more than four games over .500

That doesn’t bode well for the playoffs, but this team has shown the potential to be a contending team.

That was on full display again during Monday night’s win over the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Lakers never took their foot off the gas against the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference, a team that was fresh off beating Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns.

Following the win, Lakers star Anthony Davis made it loud and clear that his team has never cared about seeding or who they’re going against (via Dave McMenamin).

“We don’t really care what seed we’re in. We proved it last year, it doesn’t matter … It’s just about getting in and tackling each opponent from there,” Davis said.

Of course, any team with Anthony Davis and LeBron James should be expected to compete and beat the top-tier teams.

Then again, this level of inconsistency isn’t going to get the job done in the postseason.

The Lakers are currently the No. 9 seed, so they would have to make it past the Play-in Tournament to even secure a playoff spot.

Climbing uphill is tiring, and while they could be a big threat to the No. 1 or No. 2 seed in a potential first-round series, they need to find their stride before being considered a serious dark horse.
