There was little optimism for the Minnesota Timberwolves heading into Game 6 of their second-round playoff series against the Denver Nuggets.

The Timberwolves did win games one and two of the series, but they then lost three straight, leaving many to believe they had run out of gas.

However, they proved all of their doubters wrong on Thursday night, dominating the Nuggets to win by 45.

The Timberwolves might have had extra motivation coming into this game, as there was a rumor circulating about something Anthony Edwards said about their Game 5 loss.

Edwards reportedly told a member of the Nuggets staff that the team would be back for Game 7, which he confirmed in a postgame interview shared via Rob Perez on Twitter.

“They know, y’all was in there,” Edwards said, indicating that the reporters should have been fully aware of his statements.

Edwards might only be 22 years old, but he has quickly turned into the emotional leader of the Timberwolves.

He continues to dominate on and off the court and has turned into a favorite in the locker room as well as among the fanbase.

With this kind of mentality and focus, Edwards and the Timberwolves now turn to Game 7, hoping to make it to the Western Conference Finals, where they would face the winner of the series between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Dallas Mavericks.

This team has struggled to gain any traction in the postseason over the past decade but is now just one game away from making its presence known across the league.
