If confidence really is key to playing well, then Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves is about to do a lot for his team.
Speaking to the press after Team USA’s latest World Cup win, Edwards was asked about how he and his squad will do against upcoming opponents Lithuania and Montenegro.
“I think we’re going to win,” Edwards said plainly, via INQUIRER Sports.
Noting that his team has great players and great coaches, he added that “our confidence is at an all-time high so we’re not really worried about those guys.”

If the team really does take down their competitors in the second round, there is no doubt that Edwards will be a major part of their victories.
He is the top scorer for Team USA right now, averaging 16.3 points a game.
He has also put up 5.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game.
During their latest game against Jordan, Edwards scored 22 points, his best showing in the tournament so far.
He has been playing like the sort of team leader and efficient star fans had hoped for.
Of course, the challenges will only get harder in the days ahead.
Now that the team is moving into the next round, the opponents are going to put up even more of a fight and Team USA will have even less room for error.
But Edwards isn’t afraid of what’s next.
For months now, Team USA members have said they are planning to win big in the World Cup and remind the rest of the teams how special American players are.
They have been doing that so far and Edwards is confident they will keep it up.
