The Minnesota Timberwolves are on the verge of elimination.
Chris Finch’s team hasn’t been at their best in this series, and while all the losses have been close, they’ve just been outplayed on both ends of the floor.
That was the same case in Game 3.
The Timberwolves went on a big run and looked poised to win, but they fell flat in the end again.
However, when asked about the box score after the game, Anthony Edwards talked about the free-throw disparity, stating that the Dallas Mavericks shot almost twice as many free throws as them (31 to 17) (Via Dave McMenamin).
Ant Edwards asked what in the box score stands out to him after Game 3: “They had 31 free throws, we had 17”

That’s a valid argument, but the loss had nothing to do with the referees.
The Mavericks did most of their damage in the restricted area, with both Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic being very aggressive.
The Timberwolves, on the other hand, constantly roamed around the perimeter, making an extra pass and shying away from driving to the lane.
You’re going to shoot fewer free throws if you drive less; that’s just common sense.
Whatever the case, we’re too deep into the season to talk about the referees at this point, and while they haven’t always been at their best, they’re not the reason why Chris Finch’s team is down 0-3 in the series.
Edwards is one of the best players in the game, and he should be back on this stage many more times in his career, but just like he talks the talk when he’s up, he’s got to walk the walk when he’s down.
