Despite boasting a plethora of NBA superstars, Team USA could barely survive it’s date with South Sudan.
The Americans were 43-point favorites ahead of tip-off, yet they trailed by double digits early.
LeBron James and Anthony Davis led a second-half comeback that included a 16-0 run.
Then, James took the ball to the rim and knocked down the game-winning layup.
That’s why, when asked why Team USA had been able to survive and win the game, Anthony Edwards had a simple answer: LeBron James (via Cesare Milanti).

Perhaps the Minnesota Timberwolves star is right on point.
Despite being well up in age, LeBron finished the game with 23 points in as many minutes, adding six rebounds, six assists, and a couple of three-pointers on 10-of-14 from the floor.
James is the oldest player on the team and is about to enter his 22nd year, yet he continues to lead by example on a team that’s full of some of the best players in the game right now.
Team USA survived this major scare against a seemingly inferior opponent, and this should pose some major concerns ahead of the biggest sporting event on Earth.
Still, with the kind of talent and experience they have in their ranks, some believe this was nothing more than a fluke and they’ll be ready to perform when it actually counts.
