Anthony Edwards Has High Expectations For Timberwolves Teammate

The Minnesota Timberwolves kicked off last year’s offseason with one of the biggest and most discussed trades in recent NBA history.

Pairing Rudy Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns seemed like overkill, and the return they had to give for the former Defensive Player of the Year was head-scratching.

Neither Gobert nor Towns were at their best when they were on the court together, and the latter had to miss some time with injuries.

Nonetheless, Anthony Edwards believes Towns is poised to have a ‘monster’ year next season, showering his teammate with praise during his first media availability of the season (via Bally Sports North).

This isn’t the first time that Edwards has words of praise and admiration for his fellow No. 1 pick.

Just last month, he talked about his goal being to help Towns have an MVP-caliber season in 2023-24.

Edwards has embraced a leadership role within the organization, and he’s doing his best to uplift his teammates after a somewhat disappointing campaign.

One could argue that he’s already the best player on the team and it’s not even that close, but he won’t say it.

Perhaps the Timberwolves would be better off building around him, and they could even consider trading Towns to the highest bidder if the opportunity presents itself.

Towns has been very good for fantasy basketball and his numbers are eye-popping, but his impact hasn’t exactly been there all the time.

Edwards, on the other hand, looks like a legit superstar in the making, and he could be the best player in the league in no time.
