The Minnesota Timberwolves are a team that might be on the cusp of doing something special in the Western Conference, as they now have a new face of the franchise in the form of rising star Anthony Edwards.
After his best season with the team last year, Edwards headed into the NBA offseason with a lot of hope for the future in Minnesota, as he had turned a lot of heads during the 2022-23 campaign.
After proving his worth and arguably replacing Karl-Anthony Towns as the best player on the team in Minnesota, Edwards was awarded this summer with a lucrative contract extension, which makes him a wealthy man and secures his long-term future with the team.
Although Edwards doesn’t get a lot of attention nationally in the small market of Minnesota, the rising star is starting to get mentioned in the same breath as some of the all-time greats, namely superstar LeBron James.
According to StatMuse, Edwards sits alongside James as the only two players on the list of teenagers with multiple 40-point games in the NBA.

Being alone on a list with James is quite an accomplishment, and it seems Edwards is only getting started, as he is quickly becoming one of the best scorers in the NBA.
If Edwards can continue lighting up the scoreboards on a nightly basis, the Timberwolves might finally be able to be a force to be reckoned with in the West and take the next step to becoming a title contender.
However, the team may have to make a few more moves to bring in some talent around Edwards before they can make that drastic jump.
