Los Angeles Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon was slapped with a suspension because of his altercation with a fan during the first series of the season against the Oakland Athletics.
Rendon was seen grabbing a fan by his shirt and then tried to slap him, but the other person dodged it.
Then Rendon let him go and went his own way.
The player, who has had a disappointing time with the Angels after a series of excellent seasons with the Washington Nationals, spoke about what happened and said he apologized to the fan.
“Anthony Rendon said ‘I let my emotions get the best of me’ on Thursday night in his interaction with the fan. He said they apologized to each other on the phone. Rendon said he gets it. He goes to sporting events too, and likes to heckle,” Angels insider Sam Blum tweeted, citing Mariners insider Corey Brock.

Rendon appealed the suspension and it has been reduced to four games.
What happened with Rendon and the fan shows that there is no excuse for disrespecting another person, it doesn’t matter if he is a ballplayer and is expected to “perform” to a certain level.
However, it’s also proof that no athlete should react to insults and provocations, under any circumstances.
Bad things happen when both of these scenarios take place.
Fans should not harass professional athletes, but the practice is normalized for some reason; and professional players should not react to this situation.
Hopefully both parties can move on now and this situation doesn’t present itself again.
