Coming into the 2023 NFL season, the league had some fresh faces at the quarterback position that would start their careers on the professional level as starters under center right out of the gate.

CJ Stroud, Bryce Young and Anthony Richardson were three quarterbacks taken in the first four picks of the draft last year, with each of them having very different rookie seasons with their respective teams.

Stroud turned out to be the best of the bunch in their first year as he became a legitimate superstar for the Houston Texans, leading the struggling franchise to the NFL playoffs and helping turn the team around with a promising future ahead.

Young turned out to be a project for the Carolina Panthers, as he struggled all year long, and the team finished with the worst record in the NFL, 2-15.

Richardson, on the other hand, seemed to be very promising as he was an offensive juggernaut for the Indianapolis Colts, but he only played four games before going down with a season-ending injury.

Fortunately for Richardson, he’s back healthy and ready to have a strong season for the Colts. He recently told Kay Adams on Up & Adams about the two players he looks up to via FanDuel TV.

“Cam Newton and Lamar Jackson,” Richardson said.

With Richardson being a legitimate threat on the ground and through the air while sporting a large frame with a combination of size, strength and speed, it comes as no surprise that he’d look up to Newton and Jackson.

The real question now is whether he truly is the real deal and whether he can help turn the Colts into perennial playoff contenders in the AFC.
