The New York Yankees have a highly disappointing 70-70 record as of Friday afternoon.
While it’s well-below preseason expectations, they were 62-68 on August 27.
Evidently, there has been an improvement, a renewed energy.
Since that date, the team has gone 8-2 and is now playing .500 ball.
A big reason behind the Yanks’ resurgence is the fresh blood they injected into the roster.
They have recently called up and featured rookies such as Oswald Peraza, Jasson Dominguez, Everson Pereira, Austin Wells, Jhonny Brito, and others.
That group, together with fellow rookie shortstop Anthony Volpe, has been behind the recent run of good play.
Volpe discussed the impact the young prospects have had on the Yanks in recent games.
“I feel like a lot of people are feeding off all their energy. I think that’s reflected in how we’ve been playing,” SNY Yankees tweeted, quoting Volpe.

Pereira and Wells are yet to fully get going, but have contributed in key spots nonetheless.
The same can be said about Peraza.
Dominguez has been magnificent in the middle of the order, with three home runs and a 1.028 OPS in his first six games as a major leaguer.
Additionally, as Volpe states, some veterans appear to have fed off the young guys’ energy.
DJ LeMahieu and Gleyber Torres are both swinging a hot stick, and Aaron Judge remains as dangerous as ever.
Perhaps it’s too late for the Yankees to make a real run at the postseason.
They made many mistakes in 2023 from roster planning to key decisions at the deadline.
However, they do have a group of exciting, talented prospects ready to take over in 2024.
