It’s no secret that the Las Vegas Raiders have struggled in recent seasons.

Part of their problem has been due to the strength of their division, as Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs have run away with the AFC West for the last eight years.

Their issues have stemmed far beyond their opponents, however, as they haven’t been consistent at the quarterback position.

As many fans are aware, the quarterback has become the most important position on the field, and without a solid starter under center, it can be tough for teams to make a deep run in the playoffs.

The Raiders have yet to decide on who their starter will be in 2024, although, Paul Guiterrez of ESPN recently reported that they are slated to make a decision soon.

“Antonio Pierce said the goal is to announce a starter following the team’s next exhibition game, at home Saturday against the Dallas Cowboys,” Guiterrez wrote.

The starting job is a two-man race between Gardner Minshew and Aidan O’Connell.

One of them could be named the starter as soon as next week, depending on who plays better in practice and their next preseason game.

This will be a difficult choice for Pierce, a coach who’s trying to make a name for himself with this organization, and in the league in general.

Will he go with a more experienced Minshew, or pivot to O’Connell, a mostly unproven young player who is hoping to gain invaluable starting experience?
