The Las Vegas Raiders entered the offseason with a few pressing questions.

After ending the 2023 season in a suboptimal fashion, the Raiders needed to go back to the drawing board and address some positional issues.

Their most significant deficiency was at the quarterback position, as Aidan O’Connell proved to not be the long-term answer they were hoping for.

Gardner Minshew was brought in to compete for the starting job, and he was recently named the team’s Week 1 starter.

This is Minshew’s fourth stop in his NFL journey, hoping to find a new home in Las Vegas.

There are some high hopes for what Minshew can provide to this offense, as Antonio Pierce recently called out in a press conference.

“It’s Gardner’s show, and he needs to be a leader and understand what we’re lacking right now,” Pierce said, adding, “And what we’re lacking is not playing together throughout camp like most teams that have a starter from Day 1.”

Pierce seems frustrated, in a sense.

He is happy that Minshew is their starting QB, but he also understands that his team needs to make up for lost time.

With Minshew needing to split first-team reps to this point, he doesn’t necessarily have the familiarity with his teammates that Pierce would like him to have.

However, there are still two weeks until the season opener, so if Minshew is diligent in practice, there is still time for that rapport to get established.
